Endodontic Microsurgery (Apicoectomy)
Pathways Endodontics
Welcome to Pathways Endodontics, where we prioritize your dental health and comfort. One of the specialized services we offer is Endodontic Microsurgery, with Apicoectomy as the most common surgical procedure performed.
What is an Apicoectomy?
Apicoectomy is a procedure that is often recommended when traditional root canal treatment fails to fully resolve infections. This procedure addresses persistent infections or inflammation in the bony area around the end of your tooth, providing a second chance to save the tooth that otherwise may have to be removed.
What to Expect During an Apicoectomy Procedure?
At Pathways Endodontics, we understand that the thought of undergoing dental surgery may induce anxiety. Therefore, we strive to ensure you are fully informed and comfortable every step of the way. The Apicoectomy procedure will be performed under local anesthesia. Dr. Ma will make a small incision in your gum to access the infected area. The infected tissue will be removed along with the very end of the root tip. A small filling is then placed to seal the end of the root canal and the gum is sutured. The bone naturally heals around the root over time.
